Special-category data (GDPR Article 9). Your madhhab (school of Islamic jurisprudence) and your scan/food history can reveal religious belief, which is "special-category" personal data under GDPR Article 9 (and equivalent laws). We process it only on the lawful basis of your explicit consent and to provide the core feature you asked for, we minimise it, and we apply a technical safeguard: this data is stored encrypted on your device (via the platform secure store) and is never sold and never used for advertising.
What we collect
On-device only (not sent to us): your madhhab profile, scan history, food/calorie log, and Ramadan city — stored in the device's encrypted secure storage.
Product lookups: when you scan a barcode we may query Open Food Facts (ODbL) to fetch product facts. This is a product lookup, not a profile of you.
Optional account (if you sign in): an identifier to sync your data; we do not require your real name.
Diagnostics: crash/error reports with no personal data, no screenshots, and no IP/email attached (screenshots and default PII are disabled).
Product analytics (categorical only, optional): to learn which features are used and where the app fails people, we may record anonymous, categorical usage events — for example, that a verdict screen was shown or the paywall was viewed. These events carry no scan content, no barcode, no product name, no madhhab, and no account identity. They are used only to improve the app, never for advertising, and never sold.
What we never do
We never sell your data or your religious-belief data.
We never run third-party advertising on the core verdict.
We never machine-translate your data or generate a verdict with AI — verdicts are deterministic and cite published authority standards.
Your rights
You may access, correct, export, or delete your data. On-device data is deleted when you clear it in-app or uninstall. For account data, use the in-app "Delete account" action or contact us.
Data we rely on
Product facts: Open Food Facts (ODbL). Nutrition reference: USDA. Ruling sources: named authorities (JAKIM, MUI, MUIS, HMC, SANHA) — linked, never mirrored.
Contact: via the in-app Contact screen. This policy is a draft and will be finalised with legal review before public launch.
